About the Couple from the Bride

Marc and I began dating in May of 2000. We met through work - we're both journalists - and have known for a while that we wanted to spend our lives together. We got engaged in the fall of 2004: Marc had planned a surprise trip for us (I didn't know the destination until we got to the airport). It ended up being St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He proposed the night after we arrived as we were walking along the water.

We knew early on that we wanted to get married in Greece. I am Greek, and most of my family lives in Greece - it was simply a matter of where. We were trying to avoid getting married in a big city like Athens, where much of my family lives. We wanted a more intimate and romantic setting - and in Greece, there are few (if any) more romantic places than Santorini, which I had visited many times growing up and which I always thought was the most spectacular of Greek islands. The sunsets and the views are breathtaking.

Then it became a matter of logistics - how to plan from so far away. Enter Helena Papakonstantinou and Evangelia Mendrinou. Over the next nine months, they guided us through everything and took care of every detail. Our wedding was absolutely beautiful. I smile every time I think about it. I wouldn't have done it any other way.

Testimonial
Dear Evangelia and Helena,

I hope this email finds you both well and that you have found a cool spot to escape the heat! Marc and I are now back in the States, and are
slowly settling into the groove of married life.
I've been meaning to write ever since our magical wedding day a few weeks ago - magical thanks to you and the staff at the Aressana, who put heart and soul into making the day perfect for us. I can't begin to capture how wonderful everything was: the classy welcome baskets, the gorgeous flowers and center pieces, the musicians with the charming faces and unforgettable songs, the talented local dancers whose performances inspired everyone to head to the dance floor, the mouth-watering food and cake, and of course, the sunset. It was absolutely breathtaking. Our guests were riveted by the beauty of the island and floored by the flawlessness of all our wedding events. They told us in no uncertain terms it was the best wedding they've ever been to.
We couldn't agree more.
So thank you for months and months of hard work and planning. I know I bombarded you with emails and calls and a string of seemingly never-ending requests, as did many of our guests. Everything you recommended was perfect, from the dressing of the matrimonial bed (and the shots of Vinsanto!) to the restaurant for the rehearsal dinner to the decor for the wedding reception. I do hope you use us as a reference for anyone thinking about getting married in Santorini. We would love to share details of our beautiful experience on the island. It is a time we will never forget.

All our love,
Angela and Marc
